We are hiring a Logistics Specialist I

- Chemical Manufacturing for our Salt Lake City, Utah office The Logistics Specialist I is a scale-house-focused logistics position responsible for processing incoming and outgoing carriers, accurately weighing and documenting loads, and supporting the safe and efficient movement of traffic through the facility. This role verifies shipment and material information, prepares and maintains required paperwork, and ensures scale transactions are completed accurately and promptly to support inventory accuracy.
The Logistics Specialist I serves as a primary point of contact for drivers and carriers arriving at or departing from the facility. The position coordinates closely with Operations, Warehouse, Customer Service, Transportation, and other internal teams to communicate carrier status, direct traffic, resolve documentation or load discrepancies, and maintain complete and organized scale-house records.
- Operate truck scales and related systems to accurately record gross, tare, and net weights for inbound and outbound loads.
- Check in drivers, verify carrier and shipment information, and provide instructions for loading, unloading, staging, and departure.
- Manage carrier traffic through the scale area and yard, coordinating with plant and warehouse personnel to support efficient load movement.
- Prepare and verify scale tickets, loading paperwork, Bills of Lading (BOLs), delivery paperwork, signatures, seals, placards, and other required shipping or receiving documents.
- Enter accurate carrier, vehicle, shipment, weight, and transaction information into company scale, transportation, and ERP systems.
- Verify material, quantity, unit of measure, lot or batch information, and transaction details against orders and shipping documents to support accurate inventory records.
- Communicate arrivals, departures, delays, load status, and discrepancies to Operations, Warehouse, Customer Service, Transportation, and other internal teams.
- Resolve routine inventory, weight, shipment, order, and documentation discrepancies and escalaye unresolved issues as needed.
- Assist with inventory reconciliations and research transaction or documentation variances in coordination with Operations, Warehouse, and Inventory Control.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical records, including scanning, distributing, reconciling, and archiving scale-house documentation.
- Provide professional service to drivers, carriers, visitors, customers, suppliers, and internal business partners.
- Follow facility access, safety, security, DOT, hazardous-material, confidentiality, and record-retention requirements.
- Report unsafe conditions, significant carrier concerns, and scale-system issues to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
- Maintain a clean and secure work area and support routine reporting, administrative tasks, and process improvements.
- Perform other logistics and scale-house responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelors Degree Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field required.
- 0–2 years of experience in a scale house, shipping and receiving, logistics, warehouse, manufacturing, customer service, or administrative environment preferred.
- Experience with truck scales, carriers, Bills of Lading, scale tickets, ERP systems, or scale-management software is a plus.
