Job DescriptionThis position will provide support to temple custodial supervisors with policy clarification relating to procedures, principles and guidelines in the management of a worldwide audience of temple cleaning staff. Domestic and international travel will be required associated with new construction, major renovations, and standard operational reviews. Temple maintenance and cleanliness standards established by The First Presidency and Temple Department are strict and challenging requiring well trained operational staff.
The temple patron experience is enhanced and memorable when these standards are adopted properly. The Custodial Maintenance Specialist (CMS) will have dotted line responsibility to manage 52 Custodial Supervisors globally. The CMS will set yearly ATI goals for all custodial personnel working in temples worldwide as well as consult with management on yearly merit increases of Custodial Supervisors.
- Training and Development
Leadership and operational training of new custodial supervisors, volunteer custodial specialists and assisting temple and area facility managers.
Support temple facility managers and custodial supervisors to improve comprehension and implementation of the ATI process.
Develop custodial instructional training materials.
- Custodial Standards
Formalize Principles, Policies, Procedures, and Best Practices.
Establish clear expectations and measures for appearance and presentation of spaces.
Competency Assessments and audits.
Safety Practices and Material Safety Data Sheet Accountability.
- Collaborate Across Departments and Vendors
Liaison between Temples, Special Project Department, Temple Department, and Vendors.
Participate in TFM Councils as requested.
Manage a group forum for knowledge sharing.
Facilitate vendor relations for start-up training, purchasing discounts.
- Temple Start-ups and Commissioning
Training on Equipment and Start-up Kits, and Science of Cleaning.
Equipment and Supplies Inventory, and Chemical Mixing stations, Custodial Closet set-ups.
Formulate easy to understand, principle-based custodial training resources.
- Custodial Reviews
Works with SPD and Temple Department to evaluate new temple building plans to ensure maintenance access, functionality, and long life of surfaces and features.
Analyze recently commissioned temple operations and make recommendations based on repeat facility complications and defects to avoid costly corrections.
Bachelor's Degree with 10 years' experience supervising robust custodial environments.
Mature, reverent demeanor and appreciation for temple operations and standards.
Willingness to gain global perspective, understand cultures, demographics, and challenges.
In-depth understanding of custodial operations, with successful supervisory experience.
Communication skills with ability to implement positive change.
Ability to interpret key performance indicators and train, develop and inspire staff to achieve results.
Adaptability to design solutions to meet specific temple needs.
An intermediate computer level/skill in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience starting up a temple.
- Troubleshooting/maintaining custodial equipment.
- Understanding and successful application of employee developmental processes, such as ATI.
- Open to new ideas and thinking.
- Experience leading and working with volunteers.
- Maintained CEU's to keep current with industry best practices.
Spanish language preferred.
Worthiness QualificationMust be an endowed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a current temple recommend.
