Goldsmith - Lost Wax Casting Specialist and Bench Jeweler

George Rings is seeking an experienced Goldsmith / Bench Jeweler to join our fine jewelry production casting workshop in Salt Lake City. This role is hands‑on and bench‑driven, with a strong emphasis on lost wax casting, exceptional finishing, precision bench work, and day‑to‑day shop oversight.

You will play a central role in bringing our solid 18K gold designs to completion—shepherding pieces from raw castings through meticulous finishing and final quality approval. Working closely with the founder and the SLC workshop team, you will ensure that every piece meets George Rings’ high standards for weight, dimension, feel, comfort, and finish.

This position is ideal for a goldsmith who thrives at the bench, has a sharp eye for detail, and enjoys maintaining an organized, efficient, and safe production environment.

You will work in our private workshop—a thoughtfully designed production space with state‑of‑the‑art tools and machines, large windows and high ceilings, and everything you need to create beautiful, heirloom‑quality jewelry.

• Use CAD/CAM and 3D printing tools to design and refine jewelry prototypes
• Oversee and perform the lost wax casting process — ensuring clean, high‑quality, low‑waste castings
• Clip, file, and finish pieces to meet exacting standards
• Perform precise ring sizing, including “spot‑on” adjustments
• Perform chain and clasp repair, and minor ring repair or resizing
• Apply advanced polishing and finishing techniques to achieve George Rings’ signature look and feel
• Utilize engraving machine
• Establish, refine, and follow repeatable bench and finishing processes
• Precisely track all variables of work (timing, temperature, humidity, volume, dimensions, clip weights, etc)
• Conduct quality checks throughout the production process
• Maintain a clean and organized workbench and workshop space
• Maintain and improve workshop safety protocols
• Support overall shop operations, including tool and machine maintenance
• Provide informal shop leadership through consistency, organization, and craftsmanship standards

• Expertise in lost wax casting and working with solid 18K gold
• Excellent bench jewelry skills, including soldering, filing, and hand‑finishing
• Advanced polishing and surface finishing techniques
• Strong ability to interpret and execute detailed finishing notes
• High level of craftsmanship, precision, and attention to detail
• Experience with ring sizing, repair, and production finishing
• Organized, process‑oriented, and comfortable maintaining production standards
• Professional demeanor with the ability to meet deadlines
• Commitment to quality control, safety, and clean shop practices
• Stone setting experience
• Laser welding experience
