Manufacturing Engineer

Overview

Boart Longyear is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position will spend time solving production process issues, programming CNC machines, designing and evaluating process improvements and new production processes, and managing changes to bills of materials and routing times.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience

5+ years of experience in a similar role

• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
• Understanding of CNC G-code and CAM software
• 3D modeling and CAD software
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Excel

• Pneumatics & Hydraulics systems
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
• Lean Manufacturing principles

• Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors.
• Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
• Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods.
• Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
• Process Improvement
• Collaborate to design, build, and test process improvements.
• Develop training materials and deliver training for process improvements.
• Utilize 3D modelling and CAD software.
• Support safety, quality, and productivity goals through Mfg. Engineering activities.
• Employs LEAN principles to drive waste from production processes.
• Manage part BOMs and Routers
• Conduct time studies and observations to control and improve costs.
• Write and edit CNC programs
