The Assistant to the Head of Production provides administrative, operational, and coordination support to ensure efficient management of rail production and maintenance activities. This role plays a key part in supporting day‑to‑day operations, tracking performance, coordinating communication, and ensuring compliance with rail industry standards.
Key Activities- Assist the Head of Production in coordinating daily rail production and maintenance activities.
- Follow up on action items, deadlines, and operational priorities.
- Manage calendars, meetings, and communications for the Head of Production.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and production performance summaries.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and production data.
- Organize operational reviews and production schedule.
- Collect and analyze production and maintenance data (e.g., fleet performance, delays, availability).
- Prepare dashboards and KPI reports.
- Help identify trends and highlight operational risks or inefficiencies.
- Act as a liaison between the Head of Production and internal teams.
- Ensure clear communication of production priorities and updates.
- Support escalation and resolution of operational issues.
- Assist in coordinating production improvement initiatives and maintenance projects.
- Track project timelines, deliverables, and milestones.
- Support implementation of new tools, systems, or rail technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a manufacturing environment, with preference for rail industry experience.
- Proven experience in administrative or coordinator roles supporting senior leadership.
- Exposure to and involvement in continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing or operational setting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Data analysis and reporting skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
