The New Product Development Engineer is a hands‑on role responsible for turning design concepts into functional, manufacturable lighting products. This position works directly with prototypes, materials, tooling, and manufacturing processes to determine how products should be built, assembled, and produced at scale.

The ideal candidate enjoys working both at a CAD workstation and on the shop floor—designing solutions in Solid Works, building and modifying prototypes, creating tooling and fixtures, testing concepts, troubleshooting problems, and working directly with manufacturing to develop repeatable production processes

• Participate in all phases of new product development from design concept through prototype, validation, and manufacturing release.
• Build, modify , assemble, and troubleshoot prototypes using hands‑on fabrication and shop equipment.
• Translate design concepts into practical engineering solutions that meet aesthetic, functional , cost, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
• Develop 3D CAD models, production drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, specifications, and other manufacturing documentation.
• Design, build, and validate jigs, fixtures, tooling, gauges, and other production aids required to manufacture and assemble new products.
• Develop and refine manufacturing and assembly methods in collaboration with production teams.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes such as machining, forming, welding, cutting, grinding, finishing, fastening, bonding, and assembly to determine appropriate methods for new products.
• Conduct hands‑on testing and validation of prototypes and production‑intent products to evaluate fit, function, durability, assembly, and overall performance.
• Diagnose and resolve design, fabrication, assembly, tolerance, material, and manufacturing issues through iterative prototyping and testing.
• Perform design‑for‑manufacturability and design‑for‑assembly reviews throughout the development process.
• Establish appropriate dimensions , tolerances, interfaces, fastening methods, and assembly requirements for components and finished products.
• Work directly with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Sales, and suppliers to solve technical problems and successfully transition new products into production.
• Evaluate materials, components, manufacturing methods, and suppliers based on performance, manufacturability, quality, lead time, and cost.
• Support pilot builds and initial production runs, making hands‑on adjustments to products, tooling, and processes as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve product designs, tooling, manufacturing methods, assembly processes, quality, and cost.
