Job Summary
CVICU Position Summary. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated nurse practitioner or physician's assistant to join our cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) team. The APP will provide advanced care and support to critically ill patients recovering from cardiac surgery, including management of mechanical circulatory support and heart/lung transplants. This role will allow you to practice to the fullest extent of your scope and capabilities.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessments and physical exams of patients with cardiovascular conditions after cardiovascular surgery.
- Manage and coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team in the care‑planning and management of post‑operative cardiovascular surgery patients.
- Maintain familiarity with and manage vasoactive infusions, including titration of vasopressors and management of cardiogenic shock with inotropic infusions.
- Prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests.
- Provide critical care support, including management of mechanical ventilation and mechanical circulatory support (MCS).
- Perform bedside procedures such as arterial line placement, central line placement, pigtail thoracostomy tube placement, and intubation.
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred- Certification in ACLS, BLS, NRP, or ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
- Utah State prescriptive privileges.
- Completion of a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalent licensure as a Nurse Practitioner, along with national certification via an accredited examination.
All patient‑sensitive employees must be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy, with limited exemptions for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Credentialing & PrivilegingUHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non‑physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
