Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Nursing Director of the ICU you will be responsible for the daily operation of the unit. You will demonstrate clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care within the ICU. You will have the ability to identify resources needed and be responsible for staffing, hiring and budget management on the unit.

Director Role Responsibilities
  • Supervise performance improvement within the department and function with initiative and independent judgement.
  • Retain and recruit sufficient and qualified staff for effective operations.
  • Ensure staff is educated on established guidelines for reporting significant medical error or unanticipated negative outcome in patient care.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of staff performance and plan and implement training and development accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, patient safety, healthy work environment, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and communicate a shared vision for department(s) consistent with hospital vision.
  • Address staff performance deficiencies in a constructive and timely manner and recognize staff members who exhibit exemplary performance.
Qualifications
  • Current Utah RN license in good standing.
  • Associate’s Degree in nursing required;
    Bachelor's preferred.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS or BSCL.
  • Current Basic Dysrhythmia ACLS within 90 days of hire.
  • NIH Stroke Scale and TNCC certification encouraged.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in an acute care nursing supervisory position with at least three (3) years of ICU clinical experience. Previous manager or director experience preferred but candidates with demonstrated leadership abilities in their current role will be considered.
