Nurse Practitioner

Salt Lake Behavioral Health, a private 118‑bed freestanding psychiatric hospital located in Salt Lake City, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide advanced practice nursing services on Critical Stabilization and Adult Units.

Shift: Full‑time, Critical Stabilization and Adult Units.

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and mental status examinations.
• Evaluate presenting symptoms, risk factors, and clinical history.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans.
• Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications within scope of practice.
• Monitor therapeutic response, side effects, and medication compliance.
• Collaborate with Psychiatrists and Medical Director on complex cases.
• Support continuity and consistency of medical treatment.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and clinical case reviews.
• Provide clinical input to support treatment decisions and patient progress.
• Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide stabilization support.
• Assist with risk management and safety planning interventions.
• Document clinical services accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
• Ensure documentation meets regulatory, legal, and medical staff standards.
• Communicate treatment plans, medication changes, and progress with patients and families.
• Provide education related to diagnosis, medications, and recovery.
• Support discharge planning and coordination of follow‑up services.
• Promote continuity of treatment and outpatient transition planning.

• Education: Doctorate as a DNP Nurse Practitioner or Master’s Degree as an APRN with completion of a postgraduate program for psychiatric‑mental health nursing.
• Experience: Preferably two or more years in a psychiatric setting; a minimum of two years in an inpatient setting is preferred.
• Licensure: Licensed to practice in Utah as a DNP Nurse Practitioner or APRN. If medication privileges are exercised, prescriptive authority from the Board of Medical Examiners is required.
