PS Nurse Practitioner

The Department of Surgery highly values Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) in both inpatient and ambulatory practice. The Division of General Surgery, Surgical ICU is looking for an Advanced Practice Clinician (NP or PA) who is patient‑focused, self‑motivated, and works effectively in a team environment.

Job Summary:

The APC in the Division of General Surgery, Surgical Intensive Care Unit provides care to critically ill patients, most of whom are post‑op or trauma patients. The provider works in a 12‑bed Surgical ICU alongside residents, medical students, APC students, fellows, and faculty attending physicians.

• Bedside care of critically ill patients in a 12‑bed Surgical ICU.
• Procedures as needed based on training, proficiency, and clinical necessity.
• Participate in team meetings, education conferences, creation of SICU APC and resident call schedules, and opportunities for research and QI projects.
• Collaborate with multiple team members to ensure the best outcomes possible.

Required:

• Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
• Completion of a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalent licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
• National Certification requiring successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
• Must fulfill all patient‑sensitive requirements, including immunization per CDC standards and hospital policy.

Preferred:

• Certification in ACLS, BLS, NRP, or ATLS (may be required by the department).
• Utah State prescriptive privileges.
• Experience with credentialing and privileging procedures per UHPPM 1‑56.

• Critical care experience (preferred but not required).
• Inpatient experience (preferred).
