Job Summary

CVICU Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated nurse practitioner or physician's assistant to join our cardiovascular intensive careunit (CVICU) team. The APP will provide advanced care and supportto critically ill patients recovering from cardiac surgeryincluding management of mechanical circulatory support andheart/lung transplants. This a role that will allow you to practice to the fullest extent of your scope and capabilities.

• Perform comprehensive assessments and physical exams of patients with cardiovascular conditions aftercardiovascular surgery.
• Manage and coordinate care with amultidisciplinary team in the care-planning and management ofpost-operative cardiovascular surgery patients.
• Familiarity with and management of vasoactive infusions including titration ofvasopressors and management of cardiogenic shock with inotropicinfusions.
• Prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Provide critical care support including management of mechanical ventilation and mechanical circulatory support(MCS).
• Responsible for bedside procedures including arterial lineplacement, central line placement, pigtail thoracostomy tubeplacement, and intubation.

• Required
• Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State ofUtah.
• Preferred
• Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
• Utah State prescriptive privileges.
• Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is currentlicensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certificationwhich requires the successful completion of a nationally accreditedexamination.
• UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers applyfor credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
• This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associatedrequirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community byrequiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may bemade for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefsthat object to vaccinations.
