Job Summary
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a KIND (Kids'Interdisciplinary Neurovascular Disease) Clinical Nurse Coordinator. This position is responsible for assisting with the management of the patient care department by coordinating staff development/education, quality improvement activities, scheduling staff hours, and performing other duties to facilitate nursing carefor patients. This position works directly with Neurology and Neurosurgery providers to help coordinate care for patients.

Work sunder the direction of department leadership and in conjunction with other members of the University and Intermountain Health management team. This position is responsible for patient care.

This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.

  • Assists with the management of the department which involves input in performance evaluations, interviewing, hiring, counseling employees and other duties as assigned.
  • Assists with the training and QI of the department including onboarding, precepting and staff development for comprehensive epilepsy nurses.
  • Assists with the management and care of stroke patients. Works directly with Neurology and Neurosurgery providers and Intermountain Health staff to help provide care in a clinic andtriage role.
  • Triages emergent needs, manages ongoing orders, coordinates insurance authorization and information and helps manage ongoing patient needs.
  • Supports and facilitates operational alignment with organization goals and strategies under the supervision of the department leadership.
  • Responsible for the coordination of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinates staff education and development in coordination with the department manager and/or educator as appropriate. Thismay include conducting in-services, staff development programs and orientation.
  • Responsible for the scheduling of KIND clinic nurse staff;including monthly staff calendars, nursing and training schedules,message log coverage and holiday scheduling.
  • Serves as a resource to both internal and external contacts and hospital staff.
  • Maintains inventory of specialized items and ensures items are available.
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
