Job Summary Valeo Hospice is seeking an experienced and compassionate General Inpatient (GIP) Hospice Registered Nurse (PRN) to provide General Inpatient (GIP) hospice nursing services for patients requiring acute symptom management. This position primarily supports patients k's Hospital (SMH) and requires prompt response, excellent clinical judgment, and a commitment to providing compassionate end-of-life care.

Responsibilities:

Provide General Inpatient (GIP) hospice nursing services for patients requiring acute symptom management.

Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing patient evaluations.

Implement physician-ordered plans of care and document all care accurately and timely.

Assess and manage pain and other complex symptoms while ensuring patient comfort.

Educate patients and family members regarding hospice care, medications, symptom management, and the dying process.

Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, hospital staff, and caregivers to coordinate patient care.

Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the hospice care team and attending physician.

Maintain compliance with hospice regulations, agency policies, and documentation standards.

Serve as PRN weekday backup coverage as needed.

Schedule & Requirements Must be able to arrive k's Hospital (SMH) within 30 minutes when called.

Night and weekend availability is required.

Typical schedule consists of one week per month, with additional availability and scheduling flexibility preferred.

Compensation is paid per admission/visit.

Health Trust credentialing is required prior to providing services.

Candidates must successfully pass all required background checks and meet Health Trust screening requirements.

Previous hospice nursing experience is required.

Strong clinical assessment skills, communication skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail are essential.

Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive for extended periods while providing patient care.

Ability to assist and reposition patients and move equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Regular use of a tablet or electronic device for documentation, communication, and training.
