The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Utah Spencer

F. Eccles School of Medicine, has an immediate opening for a Clinic Coordinator who serves as a central resource for patients, providers, and referring departments, ensuring coordinated, high-quality care throughout the Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) care continuum.

The Clinic Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the Eosinophilic Esophagitis clinic and coordinate the care of patients serviced through the EoE clinic. The incumbent is responsible for managing a database of EoE patient information, including diagnoses and treatments, and coordinating patient follow-up throughout the care continuum. The Clinic Coordinator will serve as the primary contact for Emergency Medicine, surgery (both Ear, Nose & Throat and Pediatric Surgery) and Allergy, about possible new EoE diagnoses and coordinate timely evaluation and care.

The Clinic Coordinator also supports quality improvement and scholarly activities through data management, regulatory compliance, and preparation of research presentations, abstracts, posters and manuscripts.

Responsibilities Clinical Program Coordination:

Oversees daily Eosinophilic Esophagitis clinical program operations and supports EoE providers in coordinating clinical activities.

Maintains a database of new Eosinophilic Esophagitis diagnoses, tracks initial disease treatment, and coordinates patient follow-up.

Routinely follows up with Eosinophilic Esophagitis patients regarding medication adherence and administration, along with assessing patient response to therapy.

Coordinates surveillance endoscopy scheduling when this procedure is indicated.

Coordinates clinic visits between patients and EoE providers when needed to assess response to therapy, address in-depth questions or discuss endoscopy and biopsy results.

Serves as the primary point of contact for potential new EoE diagnoses and coordinates urgent patient referrals from General Surgery, Emergency Department, Otolaryngology, and Allergy.

Tracks endoscopy quality metrics, including documentation of the Eosinophilic Esophagitis Reference Score and number of biopsies obtained.

Assists with preparation of one to two Eosinophilic Esophagitis research papers and/or posters per year, including writing, maintenance of Institutional Review Board compliance, data organization +/- analysis, and submission preparation.

Collaborates with nurses and the Pediatric Clinical Enterprise Prior Authorization team to obtain new and renewal medication authorizations for EoE therapies, including proton pump inhibitor, topical coating steroid and biologic medications; prepares letters of medical necessity; and identifies alternative options to cover the cost of patient medications when necessary.

Assists with various duties in the Eosinophilic Esophagitis clinic, including but not limited to, ensuring the appropriate patients are scheduled into the clinic and supporting clinic preparation, discharge activities, and patient follow-up.

Coordinates and directs EoE quality improvement initiatives and facilitates activities of the EoE Quality Improvement Team.
