Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are seeking an experienced Mixed Methods Product Researcher to support the global mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by delivering rigorous, thoughtful research that informs Church products, programs, and decision-making. In this role, you will design and conduct research that spans digital products (websites, apps, and tools), curriculum, visitor experiences, and other initiatives serving members and leaders worldwide.
You will apply a broad range of quantitative and qualitative methods to understand needs, evaluate effectiveness, and inform evidence-based decisions. Working closely with cross-functional partners, your research will directly support Church leaders and administrators as they address complex, real-world challenges with both inspiration and reliable data.
This position supports the Correlation Research Division's mission to provide timely, relevant, and trustworthy insights to General Authorities and Church administrators as the Church shares its message throughout the world. We especially welcome applicants with multilingual fluency and cross-cultural research experience, as this role regularly engages diverse populations across global contexts.
* Design and execute research using a variety of methods-including literature reviews, interviews, observations, focus groups, surveys, fieldwork, and analysis of existing datasets-selecting approaches appropriate to the research questions and audiences.
* Plan and analyze quantitative studies, including experimental or quasi-experimental designs when appropriate, to evaluate product, program, or experience effectiveness.
* Apply statistical techniques (e.g., regression, ANOVA, factor analysis) to analyze large and complex datasets, ensuring data quality, validity, and appropriate interpretation.
* Synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings into clear, actionable insights that inform product decisions, strategy, and prioritization.
* Collaborate with cross-functional partners to integrate research findings into decision-making, helping stakeholders understand tradeoffs, uncertainty, and implications.
* Help shape research strategy by identifying key unanswered questions, advising on measurement approaches and success metrics, and prioritizing research efforts.
* Consult with internal partners to clarify research needs, recommend appropriate methods, and deliver insights tailored to non-technical audiences.
* Lead research projects end-to-end, including scoping, planning, documentation, coordination of timelines, and delivery of high-quality outputs.
* Mentor and support peers in research methods and best practices, contributing to a culture of empathy, curiosity, ethical rigor, and continuous learning.
* Manage relationships with external research vendors, ensuring methodological quality and alignment with project goals.
* Support global research initiatives, which may include domestic and international travel to better understand and represent diverse user needs.
Education & Experience
* Master's degree or PhD in a related field (e.g., psychology, sociology, anthropology, cognitive science, instructional design, user experience, statistics, or another social science discipline), or equivalent professional experience.
* 3-7 years of professional research experience (master's +3) applying both quantitative and qualitative methods.
* Demonstrated experience conducting mixed-methods research in applied, real-world settings.
* Candidates with less experience are encouraged to apply and may be considered at a lower grade level.
Skills & Abilities
* Mixed-Methods Research Expertise:
Strong ability to design, execute, and integrate qualitative and quantitative research to answer complex questions.
* Quantitative & Analytical Expertise:
Proficiency in statistical methods (e.g., t-tests, ANOVA, regression, factor analysis) and experience using tools such as SPSS, R, Python, SQL, and business intelligence platforms.
* Experimental & Measurement Thinking:
Experience with experimental or quasi-experimental designs, defining success metrics, and evaluating outcomes over time.
* Data Quality & Rigor:
Understanding of sampling strategies, bias, validity, reliability, and ethical considerations-especially in global and cross-cultural research contexts.
* Analytical & Strategic Thinking:
Ability to interpret complex data, identify meaningful patterns, and provide thoughtful recommendations while navigating ambiguity and competing priorities.
* Product & Program Insight:
Comfort translating research findings into implications for product design, content, or program improvement.
* Research Facilitation:
