Overview

The Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an opening for an Associate or Full Professor-level faculty member. The candidate will serve as the director of the Translational Research:
Implementation, Analysis and Design (TRIAD) Team, which includes more than 40 biostatisticians and research methodologists in quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including health economics, survey design, qualitative research, dissemination and implementation, and systematic review. TRIAD is one of nine cores within the University of Utah’s Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) and supports biomedical research across the University and affiliated institutions.

The CTSI is funded by NCATS CTSA. TRIAD is a multi-departmental group with primary appointments in the Division of Epidemiology (Internal Medicine) and the Division of Biostatistics (PHS).

The successful candidate will oversee and develop TRIAD, collaborate with biomedical researchers, support and develop grant proposals, advise graduate students, perform methodological research, and may teach in the Biostatistics Ph.D. emphasis in the PHS Ph.D. program. We are especially interested in candidates who can lead multi-disciplinary research teams and pursue independent and collaborative methodological research in Biostatistics.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    Ph.D. in biostatistics or a related discipline; demonstrated excellence in collaborative and methodological research.

About The Division Of Biostatistics

The Division of Biostatistics is a small, entrepreneurial group of six faculty that collaborates with researchers across the University of Utah and beyond. We maintain connections with the Division of Epidemiology (Internal Medicine), the Utah Data Coordinating Center (UTDCC), Huntsman Cancer Institute, Veterans Administration, and Intermountain Healthcare. We conduct methodological research motivated by collaborations and train an internationally diverse PhD student body.

We work with large databases to address scientific questions.

About CTSI and TRIAD

As an awardee of CTSA, the University of Utah CTSI supports clinical and translational research and provides methodological and data analytic support through TRIAD. TRIAD includes cores for Study Design and Biostatistics, Cancer Biostatistics, Survey and Measurement, Health Economics, Systematic Review, Qualitative Research, and Dissemination and Implementation Science. The Study Design and Biostatistics Center (SDBC) supports over 500 projects annually with expertise across clinical trials, observational studies, longitudinal analysis, survival analysis, causal inference, and related areas.
