Overview
The Davis Sensory-Perception Laboratory at the University of Utah is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to oversee research activities in the lab starting May 2026. The lab's focus is on mechanisms of visual perception and cortical computations of sensory information. Our interests include the role of oculomotor, attention, and working memory systems. In addition, the lab is interested in understanding how disruptions of the visual system through aging, disease, or damage, particularly of the eye and retina, impact perceptual function in the cortex.
Primary methods include computational modeling, electrophysiological data collection and analysis, optogenetics, and behavioral measurement of psychophysical thresholds and perceptual decision making. Candidates should have expertise in the visual system, electrophysiological data analysis techniques, statistical analysis, computational modeling, and a track record of research achievement in these or related fields.
- Leading research projects.
- Training junior lab personnel.
- Seeking fellowships and grant funding.
- Preparing research findings for presentation at research conferences and publication in academic journals.
Requires a doctoral degree in neuroscience or related field. Expertise in electrophysiological data analysis, modeling, statistics, scientific writing, and programming in MATLAB, Python, or similar coding language.
PreferencesThe ideal candidate has a proven track record of funding and publication in academic journals.
