The Leung lab in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work on clinical, translational, and epidemiological projects relating to diarrheal diseases, focusing on the development of diagnostic and prognostic clinical prediction rules to improve the management of diarrheal illness. The position may involve international travel to collaborate with scientists in lower- and middle-income countries in Africa and Asia.
Opportunities for collaborations and a mentorship team with clinical, epidemiological, machine learning, and statistical expertise. The position is funded by a grant from the NIH / NIAID (R01AI
135114), with opportunities for additional projects in other areas according to the candidate’s interest. Mentorship will be provided jointly by Dr. Daniel Leung and Dr. Ben Brintz.
- Work on clinical, translational, and epidemiological projects relating to diarrheal diseases.
- Focus on the development of diagnostic and prognostic clinical prediction rules to improve the management of diarrheal illness.
- Potential international travel to collaborate with scientists in Africa and Asia.
- Engage in collaborations with a mentorship team spanning clinical, epidemiological, machine learning, and statistical expertise.
- Contribute to NIH / NIAID funded research (R01AI
135114) and other projects aligned with the candidate’s interests.
- Experience in bioinformatics is beneficial but not essential.
- Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
