Data Scientist, Research Analyst, Research Scientist, Market Research
O.C. Tanner is seeking a Researcher to join the O.C. Tanner Institute. Reporting to the Manager of Research and Assessment, this role is responsible for designing and executing research projects, performing advanced statistical analyses, and translating findings into compelling insights that inform clients, products, and thought leadership.
This is an ideal opportunity for a curious and analytically rigorous professional who enjoys combining quantitative and qualitative research with storytelling and strategic business insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead primary research on intellectual property assets, as well as various internal and external reports. Produce additional research deliverables as needed
- Collect data using survey research, in-depth interviews, focus groups, secondary research, and other methodologies
- Perform statistical analyses including, but not limited to:
- Cross tabulations
- Correlations
- Regressions
- Random forests
- Additional predictive and exploratory models
- Produce:
- Contribute original research, analysis, and writing for global trend and thought leadership reports
- Develop research briefs for internal distribution
- Additional research deliverables as needed
- Develop compelling, data-driven narratives with actionable insights and effective visualizations
- Serve as a trusted subject matter expert and advisor to internal stakeholders and external clients

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a social science discipline with quantitative and qualitative research training
- Experience analyzing survey data
- 3+ years of primary research experience, including statistical modeling
- Strong business acumen
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Proficiency with statistical analysis software;
Stata is preferred - Willingness to travel to research sites as needed
