Job Summary
The Cancer Biostatistics Shared Resource (CBSR) at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) of the University of Utah is seeking a staffstatistician to carry out statistical analyses in collaboration with cancer investigators. We are a group of biostatisticians in CBSR engaged in a wide rangeof collaborations from basic science, high-dimensional multi-omicsdata analyses, translational research, epidemiology studies,biomarker selection, to clinical trials interact withother data scientists, bioinformaticians, statisticians,epidemiologists, psychometricians, health economists, survey designresearchers, and systematic review experts within the campus.
Focusresearch areas include, although not limited to, the design of clinical trials, observational studies, longitudinal and survivalanalysis, epidemiologic modeling, Bayesian analysis, modern causal inference, biomarkers analyses, statistical genetics and genomics,computational statistics, systematic review methodology, structuralequations modeling, and muti-omics analysis. Responsibilities Essential Functions- 1. Provides basic statistical analysis and programming support
- 2. Reviews data for discrepancies, interacts with data managers,and creates analysis datasets
- 3. Prepares and communicates statistical results in written andoral summary
- 4. Conforms to statistical programming and analysis standards
- 5. Works collaboratively with supervising and other statisticiansin supporting project needs
- 6. Collaborates and communicates effectively with cancerresearchers and multidisciplinary research teams.
Employees in this position work on multiple tasks simultaneously and, as such, may have competing deadlines or time constraintswhich may require consultation with their supervisor. Employees mayencounter concerns about study design, statistical, or data issuesin a project they are working on. Employees should discuss theseissues and concerns with a supervising statistician beforeproceeding on the project.

Minimum QualificationsEQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following joblevels:
Biostatistician, II:
Requires abachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, biostatistics, data science, or a related field. A master's or doctoral degree with several years of directly related experience is preferred.
- Candidates should have familiarity with standard statistical methods and the ability to apply appropriate statistical approaches to research questions. General programming skills and proficiency in at least one statistical programming language, such as SAS, R,or Python, are preferred, along with the ability to independentlylearn new programming skills and troubleshoot and solve challengingprogramming problems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word,Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred. The successful candidate…
