The Assistant Manager/Key Holder plays a key role in supporting overall store operations and ensuring a smooth guest experience. During the day, this position may assist in opening the store, receiving deliveries, supporting the Grocery Manager with task delegation in center store, and offering hands-on help across all departments as needed. In the evenings, the Assistant Manager/Key Holder assumes responsibility for total store operations in the absence of the Store Director and other senior leadership.

This includes overseeing departmental performance, ensuring tasks assigned by department managers are completed, maintaining high standards of guest service, addressing guest concerns, and executing proper closing procedures—such as powering down equipment, securing the building, and locking the store for the night. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build their leadership skills and gain hands-on experience in grocery retail operations.

• Open and/or close the store according to company procedures, including securing the building, setting alarms, and preparing registers and departments for business
• Serve as the Manager-on-Duty in the absence of the Store Director or other leadership, overseeing all departments and maintaining store-wide accountability
• Support daily store operations by assisting with receiving deliveries, stocking, merchandising, and maintaining store cleanliness and organization
• Provide hands-on leadership by working alongside team members, setting the pace, and supporting task completion across all departments
• Ensure guest service standards are upheld by assisting customers, resolving concerns, and fostering a friendly and helpful shopping environment
• Monitor and delegate tasks left by department managers to ensure they are completed correctly and on time
• Respond to urgent issues or incidents (e.g., equipment failure, staffing concerns, customer complaints) with sound judgment and professionalism
• Communicate effectively with store leadership by reporting key updates, issues, or successes from shifts
• Promote a safe, clean, and efficient work environment, addressing safety concerns and following proper protocol at all times
• Mentor and support team members, helping to build a positive and productive team culture

Guest Service:

• Greet and assist guests in a friendly and courteous manner
• Provide knowledgeable answers to guest inquiries
• Address customer complaints and inquiries in a professional manner, resolving issues promptly
