Love Communications, a Salt Lake City based full-service marketing agency, is looking for a Director of Business Development to join our team. We are seeking a driven and relationship-focused individual to grow our client portfolio through both inbound opportunity management and proactive sales outreach. This role focuses primarily on Utah-based business development while supporting opportunities outside of the state. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable initiating conversations, building long-term relationships, understanding client marketing needs, and presenting integrated agency solutions.

- Manage and respond to inbound business opportunities and leads
- Proactively develop new prospective client relationships through outreach, networking, and referrals
- Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities in Utah and surrounding markets, creating strategic plans to target prospective clients across various industries
- Lead introductory meetings, discovery sessions, and “quarterback” the RFP process in collaboration with agency leadership and department experts
- Efficiently manage the end-to-end process of responding to RFPs, including assembling teams, developing winning strategies, and ensuring timely and accurate submissions
- Develop compelling proposal documents and pitch presentations—deliver persuasive pitches to potential clients, communicating the agency’s value proposition and tailored solutions
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospects and opportunities for the agency
- Represent the agency at industry events, networking functions, and community engagements
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth transition from sales to client onboarding
- Maintain strong knowledge of agency capabilities and industry trends
- Travel occasionally when business opportunities require in-person engagement
- A natural relationship builder who creates trust quickly and enjoys meeting new people
- Confident without being pushy
- Highly collaborative - works well with and builds relationships with various teams while respecting internal expertise
- Must be comfortable speaking with CEOs, CMOs and senior leaders while representing the agency professionally
- Takes full ownership and accountability for each opportunity from first contact through final proposal submission
- High emotional intelligence—knows how to read a room, listens to what isn’t said and manages ego
- Strong project management and organizational abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Conducts business with the utmost integrity and honesty, regardless of the ramifications
- 8+ years experience in business development, sales, account management, or agency environments preferred
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A strong network within the advertising, marketing, or media industries
- Ability to understand marketing and business challenges and translate them into agency solutions
- Confident leader in outreach, networking, and consultative selling
- Organized and self-motivated with strong follow-through
- Ability to collaborate across multiple internal departments
- Deep understanding of media, digital marketing, and creative strategies
