Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician supports laboratory operations and sample warehouse management, with primary responsibilities in sample preparation, data management, and analytical support. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, technical aptitude, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an established organizational structure.

Responsibilities Sample Warehouse (Mandatory):
  • Manage and organize materials within the sample warehouse in accordance with established procedures.

  • Update and maintain inventory records, including modifications to Excel-based inventory tracking systems.

  • Perform physical handling of materials, including lifting items weighing up to approximately 40 pounds.

  • Obtain forklift certification as required.

  • Maintain an organized and efficient warehouse workspace.

Laboratory Duties (Mandatory):
  • Prepare powder samples for X-ray diffraction ( XRD ) analyses.

  • Learn and operate software required for XRD data collection.

  • Maintain meticulous laboratory practices to ensure accuracy and data integrity.

Laboratory Duties (Preferred):
  • Develop proficiency in XRD data interpretation software.

  • Assist with operation of analytical instruments including Scanning Electron Microscopy ( SEM ),

Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy ( EDS ), Cathodoluminescence (CL), and petrographic analysis.

Data & Administrative Responsibilities (Mandatory):
  • Work with large datasets, ensuring accurate organization and accessibility.

  • Conduct data searches and organize information to support research and operational needs.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications effectively.

  • Learn and adapt to new software systems as required.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently while maintaining high organizational standards.

Work Environment:

This position involves a combination of laboratory work, warehouse organization, data management, and analytical support. The role may require physical activity including lifting and material handling, as well as extended periods of computer-based work.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT : 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Laboratory Technician, III : Requires 3+ years of related experience.
