Key Responsibilities Day-to-day Responsibilities Of This Position- Plans and performs environmental laboratory assessments, including review of documents, data, policies, procedures, records, proficiency testing results, and technical observation.
- Communicates effectively to customers about accreditation and technical requirements, technical assistance, and distribution of resources.
- Writes, reviews, and issues assessment reports.
- Reviews and evaluates corrective action plans and associated documentation and records.
- Evaluates proficiency testing data.
- Reviews, processes, and tracks applications of customers.
- Generates and reviews laboratory accreditation certificates and scopes.
- Collaborates on maintenance and review of internal documents, policies, and procedures.
- Manages and maintains robust, transparent, and readily retrievable program records, communications, and deliverables.
- Supports and facilitates internal audits and reviews.
- Participates in programmatic planning, improvement activities, and tracking.
- Researches, interprets, and communicates regulatory requirements, specifically from the Environmental Protection Agency, The NELAC Institute, and the Utah Department of Environmental Quality. Maintains knowledge and resources of technical, analytical, operational, and regulatory requirements and procedures.
- Requires instate, out of state, and occasional international travel up to 10-12 times a year.
- Requires the ability to operate a motor vehicle for several hours at a time.
- Must be able to stand, climb stairs, sit-down, and walk across both even and uneven terrain without substantial impairment.
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or have commensurate experience acquired by having performed verified assessments of environmental laboratories. Certification as a TNI Assessor Is required within the first year. (successful completion of Basic Assessor course as well as at least one technical specialty course.)

- Knowledge of Federal and State environmental laboratory methods, standards, quality assurance, audits, and applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to US EPA methods; ISO 17025; the NELAC Institute 2003, 2009, and 2016 standard;
Clean Water Act;
Safe Drinking Water Act;
Utah Rule R444-14; and 40 CFR 136 and 141. - Ability to apply knowledge from laboratory settings to regulatory enforcement and compliance activities.
- Relevant laboratory experience.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including face to face interactions and customer service skills.
