Fish and Wildlife Biologist

You will serve as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist US Fish and Wildlife. There are 3 vacancies for the following locations:

• Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Location negotiable within Utah
• Cheyenne, Wyoming

Qualifications:

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/01/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.

To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
:
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

• A) Possess a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position;
  OR
• B) Possess a combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major in the biological sciences (i.e., at least 24 semester hours) as shown above,
  plus appropriate experience or additional education that is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-11: In addition to the basic education requirement above, you must possess the qualifications below in order to qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level.

• A) Possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level as a GS-09 in Federal service performing the following duties:(1) have experience working with ArcGIS, including opening and editing projects and performing basic spatial analyses, (2) have written biological analyses, reports, or assessments (e.g., biological opinions, environmental review documents, species status summaries) that synthesized data to support a management or regulatory decision, (3) have independently worked with stakeholders or partners to answer biological questions needed for decision support purposes, (4) have worked directly with land managers, agencies, or other partners to negotiate conservation actions intended to avoid, minimize, or mitigate impacts to a species or habitat.
  
  OR
• B) Possess 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in the biological sciences, natural resource management, or a closely related field which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position;
  OR
• C) Possess a combination of education and experience as listed above. To combine education and experience, first take the number of progressively higher-level graduate education you have completed and then divide it by 54. Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
