Job DescriptionThe Senior Workday Integrations Engineer (Financials) serves as a key technical leader responsible for the architecture, development, and optimization of Workday Financial integrations. This role focuses on building, maintaining, and enhancing interfaces that support critical finance business functions, including Procurement, Supplier Accounts, Banking, Accounting, and Reporting.
The engineer partners closely with Finance, Accounting, and IT teams to ensure seamless data flow across Workday and third-party systems, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance. They provide technical leadership across integration initiatives, mentor junior developers, and establish best practices that improve system performance and scalability.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy Workday integrations supporting Financials modules such as:
Supplier Accounts and Invoicing, Procurement and Purchase Orders, Banking and Cash Management, Accounting Journals Expenses, and Payroll Accounting, Financial Reporting and ConsolidationLead the design and architecture of complex inbound and outbound integrations using Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors, REST/SOAP APIs, and XSLT
Collaborate with Finance leadership to translate business requirements into scalable integration solutions that automate financial workflows and improve data accuracy
Develop secure, efficient, and reusable integration frameworks for journal loads, supplier updates, spend category reporting, and payment interfaces
Maintain and troubleshoot critical integrations between Workday and external systems such as ERP, payment gateways, expense tools, banks, and third-party vendors
Ensure compliance with data governance, audit, and security policies for all financial data integrations
Support Workday release testing and manage regression testing for Financials integrations
Create technical documentation for design specifications, mapping documents, and integration support guides
Mentor junior engineers and provide peer reviews for code and configuration
Stay current on Workday Financials updates and identify opportunities for automation and performance improvements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Deep understanding of Workday Financials and its core data model—including Suppliers, Spend Categories, Cost Centers, Companies, Ledgers, and Accounting Journals
Hands-on expertise with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors (Supplier, Journal, Banking, and Expense)
Proficiency in Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST), XSLT/XML, and data transformation logic
Experience with bank file integrations (ACH, BAI2, Positive Pay, Payment File Transmission)
Strong knowledge of Workday Accounting setup and mapping structures (Company, Ledger Account, Spend Category, Cost Center, etc.)
Familiarity with Workday Financial Reports (RaaS, Composite, Matrix) to support outbound data feeds
Experience managing SFTP, OAuth2, and API security frameworks
Skilled at integrating with third-party financial systems such as Coupa, Concur, Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, or banking platforms
