Sunstates Security is currently hiring Flex Security Officers in Salt Lake City, Utah and surrounding areas. This role requires open availability and the ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends
. The position offers a pay range of $20.00–$23.00 per hour – paid weekly

Requirements:

• 1 year of customer service experience.
• Preferred 1 year of security experience with an active Guard Card.
• Strong writing, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• High level of accuracy, integrity, and sound judgment.
• Dependable transportation.
• Professional appearance and grooming standards.
• Strong teamwork and reliability.
• Must have flexible availability, including weekends and varying shifts.
• Clean driving record and valid driver's license.

The Flex Officer position is crucial to our company’s operational and financial success. Flex Officers provide trained, competent support by working shifts that become open due to illness, call‑offs, weather, vacation, or other causes. This enables Sunstates to provide continual, uninterrupted service to our customers while protecting the health and work balance of our personnel.

Scheduling parameters and expectations for a Flex Officer differ from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a Flex Officer:

• You will be trained at various posts and/or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks, this will not be a permanent assignment.
• Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need.
• You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs.
• Some shifts will be scheduled in advance and posted with the new week’s schedule; sometimes you will be called on short notice to cover for someone who is unable to work their shift.
• You are expected to work any scheduled shift that falls within your described availability. If you know you will be unavailable on an upcoming date or time within your availability, communicate this with your supervisor.

For short‑notice call‑ins, you are expected to work at least 80% of the shifts for which you are called. Refusing more than 20% of called shifts may negatively impact your employment status.

A Security Officer may perform a multitude of duties as specified by the Post Orders and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). They will be able to act quickly and efficiently according to such directives.

High School diploma or equivalent.
