I have a direct hire opening for a Night Shift Refrigeration Technician in Salt Lake City with a food production company that makes frozen pastries.
- In this role, you will monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain, the ammonia refrigeration systems used to control temperatures in the facility's freezers and coolers.
- You will also perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the automated equipment used to mix, shape, proof, freeze, bag, box, and palletize the company’s frozen pastries.
Pay and
Schedule:
- Pay Range: $30–$40/hour
- Night shift: 6:00 PM–6:30 AM, Monday–Wednesday with overtime when required during the week or on weekends
- Additional $1.50/hour from 6:00 PM–12:00 AM
- Additional $2.50/hour from 12:00 AM–6:00 AM
- Monitor, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial ammonia and CO₂ refrigeration systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mixers, pumps, motors, conveyors, dough-forming equipment, proofing machines, flash-freezing equipment, bagging machines, boxing equipment, and palletizing equipment.
- Perform maintenance on refrigeration compressors, condensers, evaporators, and temperature controls used for the facility’s freezers and coolers.
- Complete documented inspections and operational checks of refrigeration systems.
- Troubleshoot refrigeration system failures, determine the cause, and complete the required repairs.
- Record refrigeration inspections, maintenance work, repairs, and equipment conditions.
- Troubleshoot and repair automated production and packaging equipment.
- Install, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Learn how to read electrical schematics, test circuits, identify failed components, and determine why equipment is not receiving the correct signals.
- Work with Production and Quality employees to complete repairs and reduce equipment downtime.
- Follow GMPs and complete maintenance work according to the facility’s food safety and quality requirements.
- Follow HACCP, FDA, EPA, OSHA, and plant safety requirements.

- Industrial ammonia refrigeration experience is required.
- Experience operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems.
- At least 2 years of industrial maintenance or mechanic experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
