Tree Trimmer

• Prune, remove, and fell trees, limbs, and shrubs away from power lines
• Load manageable limbs and logs onto vehicles and equipment
• Use climbing equipment, lift trucks, safety belts, climbing lines, ladders, hand saws, ground saws, and pruners
• Cut branches and trunk sections aloft and lower them using rigging lines
• Fell trees or spars and split them into manageable pieces
• Work near energized power lines under qualified supervision and potentially supervise non-qualified employees after meeting qualification prerequisites
• Apply herbicides and growth regulators and maintain application records
• Educate less experienced employees on company policies, safety practices, approved work methods, and OSHA regulations
• Repair minor property damage and escalat issues to the General Foreperson
• Feed brush and debris into a wood chipper
• Set up warning signs, barriers, flags, hand signals, traffic controls, and protect the public and employees
• Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections and routine maintenance; report specialized maintenance needs
• Drive and operate assigned vehicles and equipment, including vehicles towing chippers or other trailing units
• Respond to emergencies and natural disasters, including travel outside the regular work location
• Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings

• Minimum 3 months of experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews, or successful completion of applicable skills assessments
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
• Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
• Basic knowledge of trees, identification, growth habits, and arboricultural techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining, and removing trees near energized conductors
• Knowledge of ANSI Z133.1 and ANSI A300 standards
• Knowledge of electrical circuits and ability to read and understand circuit maps
• Knowledge of OSHA electric power generation, transmission, and distribution standards, including 29 CFR
• Ability to determine nominal voltage, use insulated tools near energized parts, and distinguish exposed live parts
• Ability to read and write job instructions and safety information
• Ability to recognize poisonous plants
• Ability to wear required PPE
• Ability to work long hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, storm work, and call-out work
• Knowledge and training in tree and bucket rescue
• Ability to operate and service required tools and equipment
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s or commercial driver’s license and DOT medical card, dependent on division and contract requirements
• Herbicide application certification or equivalent as required by law and Wright Tree Service
• English reading, writing, and speaking proficiency
• Extensive travel, greater than 50%
• Ability to perform required physical activities, lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds infrequently and 30 pounds frequently, and exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally

Demonstrates expertise in tree trimming, pruning, and removal techniques while adhering to safety regulations and standards. Proficient in operating specialized equipment and tools, with a strong understanding of electrical safety and herbicide application.
