We are seeking an experienced, dependable Forklift Mechanic to join our service team. The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electric, propane, and diesel forklifts as well as other material handling equipment. If you enjoy solving mechanical problems, working independently, and delivering excellent customer service, we'd like to hear from you.
Responsibilities:- Repair material handling equipment (includes forklifts, scissor lifts, tuggers, floor scrubbers, dock levelers, and dock plates)
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine problems
- Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections
- Use diagnostic tools to test lift or equipment components
- Complete work orders accurately and maintain repair records
- Perform quality inspections prior to returning equipment to the customer
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
- Communicate repair recommendations and equipment status with customers and service advisors
- Respond to field service calls when required
- Previous experience as a mechanic
- At least 1 year of forklift repair experience preferred
- Diesel engine repair experience is a bonus
- Experience working on electric, LP gas, gasoline, and diesel-powered forklifts is a plus
- Knowledge of shop equipment and diagnostic tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Basic computer skills for completing work orders and researching parts
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple repairs while meeting deadlines
- Deadline and detail-oriented
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- OEM certifications (Toyota, Hyster, Yale, Crown, Raymond, etc.) are a plus but not required
- Full-time
- Monday through Friday
- Occasional overtime and on-call work may be required
