Certified Welding Inspector; CWI

Overview

We are looking to hire a CWI who is local to the Salt Lake City area.

$50.00/hr - $55.00/hr

This range is provided by Fenagh Engineering and Testing. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

• Conduct visual inspections and interpret non-destructive testing (NDT) results, such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, or liquid penetrant, to evaluate the quality of welds and identify any defects.
• Review and confirm that the Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) used on a project are correct for the application and that welders are qualified to perform them.
• Before and during welding, verify that all base metals, filler materials, and equipment are appropriate and functioning properly according to project specifications.
• Maintain meticulous records of all inspections, tests, and non-conformances. Prepare detailed reports for project managers and clients that document the quality of the welds and any necessary repairs.
• Ensure all welding work is compliant with relevant industry codes and standards, such as AWS D1.1 (Structural Steel Welding) or API 1104 (Pipeline Welding).
• Effectively communicate inspection results and quality issues with welders, supervisors, engineers, and clients, ensuring clear understanding and follow-up on corrective actions.

• An active Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) is required.
