Schedule: 40W M-F 8:00AM – 4:30PM

Rate of Pay: $20.00

The Lead Caseworker functions as Team Leader for the caseworkers of The Salvation Army Salt Lake City Corps. Alongside caseworkers, they handle assistance inquiries for utilities, rent, furniture, emergency and seasonal assists. As Lead, they authorize the eligibility of clients for assistance, troubleshoot escalated client inquiries, and ensure accurate reporting of casework. The Lead Caseworker communicates team needs, concerns, and suggestions for procedural changes to the corps officers.

• Communicate effectively with staff, clients, interns, volunteers and other agency providers about Social Services programs and requirements, providing referrals and resources to clients seeking additional services.
• Set priorities and complete assistances (utilities, emergency assistance, etc.) for clients in a time‑sensitive manner.
• Work with Social Service team to suggest and implement strategies that will maximize program effectiveness.
• Train new caseworkers and interns on how to complete tasks within the department, how to input data, and maintain records.
• Ensure departmental resource lists are kept up‑to‑date.
• Maintain timely documentation and record‑keeping duties.
• Attend all staff meetings as assigned.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or G.E.D required; work experience commensurate with the duties and responsibilities required.
• Commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army.
• Strong communication and people skills, including patience and compassion for clients experiencing hardship.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through email about programs and assistance.
• Demonstrated history of providing effective case management services.
• Competent in working independently within clear parameters in a team environment.
• Able to respect cultural, social, socioeconomic, and racial differences.
• Effective stress‑coping skills and setting of personal boundaries.
• Bilingual Spanish (preferred).
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, email, and ability to quickly learn job‑specific online portal and platforms.

• Driving: Must be 21 years old and possess a valid in‑state driver’s license. An MVR will be processed annually in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.
• Background Check: Continued employment contingent upon a biennial background check processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.
• Physical: Ability to maneuver, remain stationary, grasp, push, pull, reach overhead, lift up to 25 pounds, access and produce information from the computer, operate a telephone, and understand written information. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties with or without accommodation.
