Crossing Guard
Position Summary:
The Crossing Guard prepares crossing zones and assists children in crossing streets safely.
- Assists children in crossing streets safely while traveling to and from school.
- Prepares school crossing zones by turning on flashing lights and placing warning cones in the street.
- Takes children safely across the street, watching traffic closely and stopping cars if necessary.
- Participates in special events as asked by school administrators and/or sergeant.
Education, Experience and
Certifications:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current Utah traffic laws; knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Skill in the use of materials, equipment, and tools necessary to cross children.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and school employees.
- Basic computer skills.
The employee is expected to stand, walk, and use hands to operate objects and controls. The role requires frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including wet, humid, and moderate noise levels. Essential vision abilities include close and distance vision with the ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally need to reach with hands and arms.
Pay and Working Hours$19.29 / Hour – Ten Hours per Week
