Kforce has a client in Salt Lake City, UT that is seeking a Backend Integration Developer.
Summary:
The Backend Integration Developer will design, build, and maintain APEX's core backend services and enterprise integrations. This role is responsible for developing FastAPI-based services, managing the Postgre
SQL data layer, and building reliable integration pipelines with enterprise platforms such as Service Now SPM and Archer GRC.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python (FastAPI)
- Build and optimize Postgre
SQL data models and manage schema migrations with Alembic - Develop and support integration pipelines with enterprise systems (e.g., Service Now, Archer)
- Design and implement robust REST APIs
- Ensure comprehensive test coverage across all layers of the application
- Own the end-to-end bug lifecycle (reproduce, diagnose, fix, regression test, deploy)
- Implement structured logging and observability to support monitoring and troubleshooting
- Build resilient systems with strong error handling and retry mechanisms
- Validate all changes with regression and integration testing prior to promotion beyond local environments
- Strong experience with Python and FastAPI
- Experience with asynchronous programming (asyncio)
- Hands-on experience with Postgre
SQL and Alembic - Strong understanding of REST API design principles
- Experience with pytest and automated testing frameworks
- API contract testing (both internal endpoints and downstream integrations)
- Integration testing, including failure scenarios, retries, and edge cases
- Database regression testing, especially around schema migrations
- Experience implementing test coverage reporting
- Familiarity with structured logging and observability best practices
- Experience building resilient integrations with error handling and retry logic
- Application development experience in a cloud environment (GCP preferred, others acceptable)
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to manage issues through full resolution
- Experience authoring OpenAPI/Swagger specifications
- Experience with document or file processing workflows
- Service Now (SPM, APM, TRM)
- Archer GRC
- Background in financial services or regulated environments

CompensationThe pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
