Software Development Engineer IV
Job Summary:
Design, program, build, deploy, and maintain applications on the Service Now Platform. Analyze and modify existing tools as well as design, construct, and test end‑user applications that meet user needs. Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design. Work with the product manager on technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated organization’s requirements. Support, maintain, and document software functionality.
Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation. Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed. Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug the platform to meet needs. Conduct complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment.
- Senior developer within the Service Now team to lead and improve development activities within the platform.
- Analyzes and evaluates existing systems with minimal oversight and defines problems, data availability, report requirements and system design issues.
- Designs, configures, and develops custom applications and advanced software modules. Utilizes sophisticated scripting (Business Rules, Script Includes, Flow Designer, and Integration Hub) while adhering to standard practices.
- Designs and develops applications using integrations (REST / SOAP, JSON / XML) using Integration Hub/MID Server where applicable.
- Applies understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts and Agile methodologies.
- Works within a team dynamic to improve the platform.
- Analyzes the problem and information to be processed, defines the problem and develops system requirements and program specifications from which programmers prepared detailed flowcharts, programs, and tests.
- 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (e.g., bachelor’s degree equals 4 years of directly related work experience). (Equivalency Statement)
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) plus 8 years of directly related work experience, or Master’s degree (or equivalency) plus 6 years of directly related work experience.
- Service Now Certified System Administrator
- Proficient with API and integration design: RESTful services, webhook/notification integrations.
- Strong working knowledge of Service Now platform, with a focus on HRSD or related modules preferred.
- Proficient with scripting and development concepts, such as JavaScript and Service Now scripting (Glide).
- Ability to assess situations, diagnose symptoms and causes of issues, determine goals and recommend actions to meet those goals or rectify issues based on analysis of information.
May require successful completion of a criminal background check and/or drug screen.
