Software Development Engineer II

Job Summary

Design, program, build, deploy, and maintain applications on the Service Now Platform. Analyze and modify existing software as well as design, construct, and test end‑user applications that meet user needs. Participate in the full development life cycle—including requirements analysis and design. Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and the organization’s requirements. Support, maintain, and document software functionality. Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation.

Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed. Consult with end users to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs.

• Mid‑level developer within the Service Now development team to participate in development activities and contribute to continuous platform improvements.
• Assist in analyzing and evaluating existing systems to define problems, data availability, report requirements and system design issues.
• Design, configure, and develop custom applications and software modules using scripting (Business Rules, Script Includes, Flow Designer, and Integration Hub) while adhering to standard practices.
• Assist in designing and developing applications using integrations (REST/SOAP, JSON/XML) with Integration Hub/MID Server where applicable.
• Understand Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts and Agile methodologies.
• Work within a team dynamic to improve the platform.

• Software Development Engineer II:
  Requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience, or a master’s degree (or equivalency) + 2 years.

• Service Now Certified System Administrator
• Experience with API & integration design: RESTful services, webhook/notification integrations.
• Working knowledge of the Service Now platform, with a focus on HRSD or related modules.
• Experience with scripting and development concepts, such as JavaScript and Service Now scripting (Glide).
• Ability to assess situations, diagnose symptoms and causes of issues, determine goals and recommend actions to achieve goals or rectify issues based on analysis of information.
