Harris seeks skilled Software Engineers to join our System Software group, where you will architect next-generation, mission-critical solutions. Our team is responsible for developing the core software infrastructure that integrates advanced communications technologies across complex subsystems. Essential Functions:

• Knowledge and experience of embedded real-time software development (VxWorks/Linux)
• Work closely with cross-functional team members to develop operational performance requirements, interface software and hardware components, and collaborate on system design
• Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and formal testing
• Contribute to software test plans, procedures, and other relevant technical documentation
• Demonstrates depth of knowledge in programming languages, compilers, and application execution
• Participate in peer reviews, identify, track and repair defects
• Utilize a variety of software languages on Windows, Linux and embedded real time operating systems

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, or related field
• A minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience in software development particularly utilizing object-oriented programming methodologies
• Strong C++ skills
• Experience with high performance and multi-threaded programming
• Demonstrates depth of knowledge in programming languages, compilers, and application execution
• Demonstrated curiosity and ability to learn outside of core discipline

Preferred Additional

Skills:

• Proficiency with C++
• Experience with hands-on software development and troubleshooting on embedded targets utilizing an RTOS (Real-Time Operating System)
• Working knowledge of signal processing, control systems theory, or networking fundamentals
• Familiarity with key protocols such as IP, UDP, TCP, IPSec, DDS, or SNMP
• Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
• Solid presentation and writing skills
• Previous professional experience working within the Department of Defense (DoD) or intelligence community
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
