Sr. Manager of Software Engineering

The primary responsibility of the Sr. Manager of Software Engineering at Extra Space Storage is to lead engineering teams in building software products that add value for our customers and our business. • Strategic Leadership and Direction:
  Provide organizational and technical leadership across multiple teams by facilitating critical decisions, aligning stakeholders, establishing priorities, and communicating progress, risks, and outcomes across short, medium, and long term planning horizons.
• Technical and Domain Expertise:
  Maintain and cultivate deep technical expertise while driving the adoption of engineering best practices. Expand organizational capabilities in areas such as scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, performance, and software quality.

  Leverage a strong understanding of business objectives, customer needs, and operational processes to influence product strategy, improve execution, and maximize business value.

  Build and sustain high performing engineering organizations by recruiting, hiring, developing, and retaining top talent while promoting an inclusive and engaging work environment. This includes running our internship program that feeds into our organization for long term growth.

Qualifications
• 10+ years of relevant engineering and/or leadership experience (typical)
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
• Experience with Agile methodology - scum and kanban.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements Performs sedentary work in an office environment with limited lifting (less than 10 pounds) or walking required. Close visual acuity required to perform work at computer terminal. No exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Requires repetitive typing motion, talking, hearing, grasping and feeling.
