Software Development Engineer in Test; SDET

Celtic Bank is seeking a talented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) QA Engineer to help build secure, reliable, and scalable banking technology. As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) QA Engineer, you will design and maintain automated testing frameworks, validate cloud-native applications, and ensure the quality of critical banking systems and third-party integrations. You'll collaborate closely with software engineers, product teams, and business partners to deliver exceptional customer experiences while maintaining the highest standards of performance, security, and reliability.

Work Schedule: Hybrid – In-office Tuesdays and Thursdays.

• Design, build, andmaintainautomated test frameworks for scalable cloud-native distributed backend systems.
• Partner with engineering teams and business stakeholders to turn user needs into clear test strategies and quality standards.
• Build andmaintainreliable automated test coverage for third-party API and platform integrations.
• Build andmaintainreliable load testing scenarios and pipelines for large and complex distributed systems.
• Evaluate testing approaches and trade-offs,providing technical guidance aligned with business goals and risk tolerance.
• Deliveraccuratetest estimates and communicate quality status and risk effectively.
• Support production systems through monitoring, regression testing, and operational quality improvements.
• Investigate, isolate, and document defects within large-scale distributed systems.
• Create andmaintaincomprehensive test plans, test cases, and QA documentation.
• Improve test tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and automated build/release quality gates.
• Mentor engineers on quality practices and foster a culture of learning, feedback, and craftsmanship.
• Stay current with emerging QA tools, testing methodologies, and engineering best practices.
• Leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance test automation workflows and productivity.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Scienceor equivalent practical experience
• 4+ years of professional QA/SDET engineering experience, including automated testing on cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred)
• Prior experience testing systems within financial services, banking, or fintech environments
• Proficient in at least one programmingor scripting language commonly used for test automation (e.g.JavaScript/Type Script,Python,C#), with the ability to build andmaintainframeworks from scratch
• Strong experience with API test automation tools (e.g.,Playwright,Postman/Newman,Rest Assured) and CI/CD-integrated test frameworks
• Expert-level understanding of:
• Integration and unit testing
• API designandcontracts
• Testing API security-including authentication and authorization, input validation, and data exposure
• Relational and non-relational databases-including SQL for data validation
• Test strategy for performance, scalability, and reliability
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
