Overview
Odyssey House is seeking a Full‑Time Driver! This role is critical to the clients and the organization. Odyssey House a 501(c)3 non‑profit recognized as Utah’s best mental health and addiction treatment center. The Driver provides safe transportation and is the first point of contact as clients enter their sobriety journey.
Location & PayJob Location: Salt Lake City
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday 9-5. Ideal candidates will be flexible between 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays to meet the department’s needs.

You will be one of the first points of contact as our clients enter their sobriety journey. In addition to direct client interface, you will help with luggage, vehicle maintenance/cleanliness, record keeping, and coordinating with other staff to meet clients’ needs. You also get to encourage clients as you see them progress in their treatment goals.
Job Responsibilities- Must be able to operate 14‑passenger vans/buses safely and maturely
- Transport clients and/or staff from Odyssey House facilities to and from various locations throughout the Salt Lake and Northern Utah areas
- Interact with clients, vendors, and others
- Provide excellent safe transportation services and problem‑solving skills
- Effective communication skills
- Handle logistics effectively
- Organized and on schedule
- Adhere to all Odyssey House staff dress codes
- Drive and deliver vehicles locally or out of the area as needed, following all rules of the road
- Deliver to the appropriate destination in a safe and courteous manner
- Ride with or follow another driver to drop off vehicle(s) or pick up multiple vehicles
- Organize travel routes and ensure daily pre‑trip and mileage vehicle log paperwork is accurate and timely
- Communicate via cellular phone as needed
- Clean vehicle and/or keep the van and/or bus clean during shift
- Report mechanical or other vehicle issues to the supervisor promptly
- Passion for community service and helping others realize their potential
- Communication skills to problem‑solve directly with clients and other staff
- Reliability to fill support staff shifts and deliver on responsibilities
- Self‑starter to independently address issues and needs in the organization’s community
- Teachable – willingness to learn and grow in the position
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Neat appearance
- Reliable, polite, and self‑motivated
- Excellent customer service and communication, and interpersonal skills
- Work with clients from different backgrounds
- Drive safely with good vision and hearing
- Active Utah driver’s license for at least 3 years and satisfactory MVR check (no more than 1 moving violation and/or at‑fault accident in the past 3 years, and no drug or alcohol‑related conviction in the last 10 years)
- Eligible to work in the USA
- Receive flu shot, TB test, and COVID‑19 vaccine (spiritual and medical waivers available)
- One year of sobriety, if in recovery
