Starting Wage: $24.81 per hour.
Multiple vacancies – position open until filled.
The position starts as an hourly role and may transition to a contract role with benefits once the incumbent meets all license and training requirements.
Job Summary- The Bus Driver transports students on scheduled routes and to/from special excursions, ensuring the vehicle is in safe operating condition and safeguarding student safety during transport, loading, and unloading.

Required Qualifications
- Fingerprintable and successful criminal background check required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Utah Driver's License and evidence of insurability.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) within 60 days of hire; district will provide all essential training.
- Able to roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Pass and maintain the U.S. Border Patrol Physical Assessment Standards for Utah.
- Hold or obtain CPR & First Aid Certificate within six months of hire.
- Read, write, analyze, and follow written and verbal communication in English; understand information presented verbally or in writing.
- Adaptability and understanding of cultural differences; the ability to cope with stressful situations related to students and maintain confidentiality.
- Prior experience working with children with special needs.
- CDL endorsements (including passenger, air brakes, and school bus).
- Drive school bus and other vehicles on scheduled routes, field trips, and other occasions safely and timely.
- Assist students and other passengers (e.g., students in wheelchairs, students with special needs) in safe loading and unloading, including emergency and normal transport.
- Advise students and other passengers of appropriate behavior and safety rules to reinforce regulations and maintain safety.
- Supervise students and other passengers during transit, maintaining safety and following district policy.
- Support other personnel during emergencies, providing assistance and administering first aid if certified.
- Assess incidents, complaints, accidents, and potential emergency situations; recommend resolutions.
- Prepare documents and reports such as field trip reports, employee timecards, incident reports, inspection records, mileage logs, student counts, routing information, federal and state standards, and district policy reports.
- Report observations and incidents involving students to appropriate personnel.
- Clean assigned vehicles (sweep, mop, wipe, clean windows) to ensure safety, appearance, and sanitation.
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, maintaining vehicle condition and compliance with mandated guidelines.
- Maintain vehicle fluids (gas, oil, water, anti‑freeze).
- Conduct emergency evacuation drills as mandated by state standards.
- Respond to inquiries from students, parents, and school personnel.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars.
- Adapt to changing work priorities and frequent interruptions.
- Collaborate with team members to perform duties effectively.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
No supervisory responsibilities for the Bus Driver position.
