Position: Maintenance Technician (Electrical & Mechanical)
Location: Stevenston

Chemring Energetics UK is a global business providing a range of equipment based on energetic materials for defence, civil defence and key commercial customers. An exciting opportunity is available for experienced Maintenance Technicians to join our Engineering team.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, our Maintenance Technicians play a key role in supporting production through the delivery of planned preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance activities across site equipment and infrastructure. Whether your background is Mechanical or Electrical, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant and equipment within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Accountabilities & Duties

  • Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, company policies, and procedures.
  • Report unsafe acts and conditions through company reporting systems.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM), corrective maintenance (CM), and reactive maintenance (RM) activities.
  • Diagnose equipment faults and undertake root cause analysis.
  • Work in accordance with site procedures, engineering standards, and relevant legislation.
  • Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan, record, and manage maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to the required quality standards.
  • Operate in accordance with the site Permit to Work system.
  • Support production teams by maintaining the reliability and availability of site equipment and infrastructure.

Mechanical Maintenance Technician

You'll be responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment breakdowns, undertaking preventative maintenance activities, and maintaining mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems across site. Experience with steam distribution systems would be advantageous.

Electrical Maintenance Technician

You'll be responsible for diagnosing and repairing electrical equipment breakdowns, carrying out periodic inspection and testing activities, and maintaining electrical infrastructure across site. Experience working in hazardous environments and knowledge of electrical compliance standards would be advantageous.

Qualifications & Experience

Mechanical Maintenance Technician

  • HNC or equivalent in a Mechanical discipline.
  • Experience in a mechanical maintenance role.
  • Ability to diagnose faults on mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Good understanding of maintenance techniques including condition monitoring and reliability practices.
  • Experience of steam distribution systems, CMMS systems, or working within a high-hazard manufacturing environment would be advantageous.

Electrical Maintenance Technician

  • Served a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
  • Minimum HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in an electrical maintenance role.
  • Ability to diagnose faults on mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively to tight timescales.
  • COMPEX certification, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, CMMS experience, and experience within a high-hazard industry would be advantageous.
