About VIP Smart Homes

VIP Smart Homes designs and delivers seamless, invisible technology for some of the most exceptional properties in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Founded by Mike Hayertz, who spent a decade managing residential technology for Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen, we bring over 20 years of luxury smart home experience to estates, vacation homes, yachts, and commercial spaces worldwide.

We are an authorized dealer for Lutron, Control4, Uni Fi, Kaleidescape, Sonos, Focal, and other leading brands. We design unified ecosystems spanning architectural lighting, motorized shading, whole home audio, home cinema, enterprise networking, security, and full home automation, all backed by true concierge service. Our philosophy is simple: when you call, we answer or get back to you within minutes.

The Opportunity

We are hiring our first Senior Integrator outside of the founder, and we are looking for someone exceptional.

As Senior Integrator, you will work directly alongside the founder on every aspect of every project: system design, installation, programming, commissioning, and client service. This is a true ground floor opportunity. You will not be one of 50 technicians at a big integration firm. You will join a growing team at a company with an elite client base and serious momentum, and as the company grows, you grow with it.

The person who takes this role today has the chance to help build the team, shape how we work, and step into leadership as we expand.

This is not a narrow, single trade position. One day you might be terminating a Lutron panel, the next commissioning an enterprise network, calibrating a home cinema, or walking an UHNW client through their new system. If you take pride in craftsmanship, discretion, and doing the job right the first time, you will fit in here.

What Matters Most to Us

Skills can be taught. Character cannot. Before anything on the technical list below, we are looking for three things:

  • Honesty. If you do not know how to do something, say so. We will figure it out together. Pretending to know something you do not is the one thing that does not work here, because our clients trust us with their properties and there is no room for guesswork.
  • Reliability. Being on time, every time, is nonnegotiable. Our clients expect white glove service, and that starts with showing up when we say we will.
  • A drive to learn. This industry changes constantly and no one knows everything. We want someone who is genuinely excited to pick up new systems, new skills, and new challenges, and who sees every project as a chance to get better.

What You Will Do

  • Install, program, and commission Lutron lighting and shading systems, whole home AV, home theater, networking, security, and automation platforms
  • Work hands on across all phases of projects, from prewire and rough in through trim out, programming, and final client walkthrough
  • Partner directly with the founder on system design, project planning, and onsite execution
  • Perform electrical work associated with low voltage and lighting control installations to code, including line voltage lighting circuits and power wiring on new builds
  • Deliver white glove service in occupied luxury homes: punctual, polished, discreet, and respectful of the client's space and privacy
  • Troubleshoot and support existing client systems, because our concierge service promise depends on responsiveness
  • Travel occasionally to project sites outside the Seattle area, including vacation homes, estates, and marine installations

What We Are Looking For

Required:

  • Current Washington State electrician certification at the (01) General Journey Level or (02) Residential level. This role includes line voltage work such as lighting circuits and power wiring on new builds, which an (06) Limited Energy certification alone does not cover. Out of state applicants must be eligible to obtain Washington certification through L&I reciprocity.
