A Day In The Life Of a Construction Worker

At Samaritan's Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do. We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff, and volunteers who serve around the globe.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Work jointly with the Project Superintendent, Construction Foremen, and Logistics Coordinators to construct and/or repair homes in the affected area.
  • Work with and lead volunteers.
  • Work with other construction workers and hired subcontractors when needed.
  • Ensure the quality of each project is maintained to the highest possible standard.
  • Provide safety training and general project training for team members at the job site and ensure all work is done according to safety standards.
  • Maintain security of all materials and equipment at job sites.
  • Ensure quality and adherence to Samaritan's Purse policies from hired subcontractors.
  • Inspect all jobs, ensuring work is performed per federal, state, and local laws and codes.
  • Communicate and minister to homeowners and partners, keeping them informed of the team's work and projected needs.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school and six (6) months to one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain a driver's medical card (required).
  • Trade certifications (electrical, plumbing, roofing, framing, and finish carpentry) (preferred).
  • Class A Commercial Drivers License (preferred).
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of residential home construction, from layout and foundation work to final inspection.
