The Department of Curriculum & Instruction invites applications for a full‑time, 11‑month, tenure‑track Assistant Professor to teach and develop online graduate‑level counseling courses. The successful candidate will support the ongoing planning, development, implementation, and assessment of the M.A. in Professional Counseling, M.A. in Mental Health & Wellness Counseling, M.Ed. in School Counseling, and the Online LPC Bridge programs. Faculty are expected to fully engage in teaching, research, service, and program support activities in alignment with college and institutional expectations.

Job Duties
  • Teach graduate counseling courses online in an accelerated 8‑week format using Blackboard Ultra and evidence‑based distance‑learning strategies.
  • Teach two 8‑week courses concurrently and a total of ten courses across the 11‑month appointment.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain high‑quality online coursework aligned with program outcomes and state certification and licensure requirements.
  • Evaluate student work and provide timely, substantive feedback appropriate for accelerated course pacing.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including presentations, publications, grant activity, and other research endeavors.
  • Participate in department/program support activities, such as committee service, adjunct faculty support, collaboration on field experience processes, candidate certification testing preparation, and ongoing program assessment and improvement.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students across diverse backgrounds and professional roles.

Online Course Development and Instruction
  • Experience designing and delivering engaging online courses.
  • Proficiency with Blackboard Ultra or comparable learning management systems.
  • Ability to translate counseling pedagogy and skills‑based instruction into high‑quality online learning experiences.
  • Ability to design and deliver online courses that reflect Quality Matters (QM) principles, supporting the department’s ongoing efforts toward QM Program Certification.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Strong communication skills for conveying complex counseling concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to build rapport, trust, and professional relationships with diverse individuals.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within teams and community partnerships.
Understanding of State Requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Texas counseling licensure requirements or school counseling certification requirements.
  • Ability to navigate regulatory frameworks and support students in meeting licensure expectations.
