Job Description


This posting will remain open to generate a pool of qualified student applicants for available positions during the semester
General tutor responsibilities are to provide intensive and extensive tutorial services for ASU students. The goal of the ASU Tutor Center is to help students become independent learners.

Essential duties are as follows:

• Provide academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individual
• Use questioning techniques such as the Socratic method to help students learn to formulate their own answer
• Assist students in the development of study skills necessary for academic success
• Attend pre-term training and in-service training sessions throughout the term
• Help students develop a positive attitude, self-confidence, and motivation toward learning while reducing anxiety or fear of failure with academic work
• Keep regular and accurate records of student visits, using the Navigate online program
• Establish and maintain rapport with the assigned students
• Serve as a role model for students

Required Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled student and registered for classes.
