Ram Residency Co-Teacher – Elementary (San Angelo)

Reports To: Cooperating Teacher/Principal/ASU Site Coordinator

The Ram Residency Program partners a resident teacher with an experienced co‑teacher for a year‑long placement in the classroom to learn, grow, and develop as a teacher.

• Release Time Training and Support:
  Residents and Cooperating Teachers receive training on roles, responsibilities, co‑teaching models, and coaching. Site Coordinators provide additional support and plan actions for challenges.
• Planning:
  Cooperating Teachers and Residents collaborate to plan instruction based on district pacing calendars and curriculum expectations. Residents increasingly responsible for planning, preparation, and readiness to deliver assigned content.
• Training:
  Residents complete all district employee training, including New Employee Orientation. Both Residents and Cooperating Teachers attend ASU beginning‑semester events and a joint orientation (potential date August 7, 2024).
• Other Duties as Assigned:
  Residents may perform duties outside co‑teaching time (before/after school) and are expected to work independently as they grow. Residents provide coverage for their Co‑Teacher to attend ASU trainings held during the school day. Residents may be asked to teach independently when the Co‑Teacher is absent; a substitute teacher must be arranged in case of an extended absence.

• Active participant in the Angelo State Ram Residency Program.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree and teaching certification.
• Open to constructive feedback and coaching.

• Position may require long periods of standing and teaching in the classroom.
• Position also involves long periods of sitting in front of a computer.
• Work outside the classroom may be required.
