Assist in directing and managing the instructional program and supervising operations at the campus level. Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service; implement District policies and instructional programs; manage campus activities.
QualificationsEducation and Certification
- Master’s degree in educational administration
- Principal certification or appropriate Texas certificate
- Certified instructional supervisor and appraiser in Texas Teacher Evaluation & Support System
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and alternative education
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
- Ability to manage personnel
- Ability to implement policy and procedures and interpret data
- Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience
- Three years classroom teacher experience
Instructional and Program Management
- Monitor instruction to ensure program activities reflect outcomes and use findings for corrective action, improvement, and recognition.
- Assist the principal in analyzing and disaggregating data to meet students’ academic needs.
- Assist in monitoring Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills / Student Expectations as required by the Texas Education Agency.
- Work with staff to plan, implement, and evaluate curriculum systematically.
- Monitor curriculum delivery using walk‑throughs and coaching/mentoring procedures.
- Provide two‑way communication with district leaders, staff, students, parents, and the community.
- Lead a collaborative process to develop performance objectives involving staff, parents, and the community.
- Support use of appropriate information systems and records for campus performance objectives.
- Ensure students’ success per local standards, curriculum, and assessment.
- Comply with District policies, state and federal laws, and regulations.
School Improvement
- Determine and build a shared vision with staff; direct planning and implement programs to fulfill the school’s mission.
- Use assessment instruments, appraisal data, and professional learning to improve performance.
- Promote student performance improvements through disaggregated data comparison to state standards and prior year results.
- Assist in identifying, analyzing, and applying research findings to facilitate school improvement.
Personnel Management
- Collaborate with the principal in interviewing and selecting new staff.
- Define expectations for staff performance on instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication.
- Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with all staff.
- Assist the principal in making recommendations on personnel placement, transfer, retention, promotion, and dismissal.
- Confer with staff on professional growth and jointly develop improvement goals.
Fiscal, Facilities, and Administrative Functions
- Comply with all policies, procedures, and internal controls related to finances.
- Report suspected violations of the code of ethics (e.g., theft, fraud).
- Conduct all business transactions ethically and honestly.
- Assist in developing the budget, implement programs within limits, maintain fiscal control, and report fiscal information accurately.
- Manage the use of school facilities; supervise maintenance for a safe campus environment.
- Provide instructional resources to support teaching staff.
- Compile, maintain, and file required reports and records in a timely manner.
Student Management
- With staff, encourage student input to develop a system that promotes positive behavior and climate.
- Ensure school rules are uniformly observed with equitable discipline.
- Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers on school and student matters.
