Nurse Educator
The Department of Nursing invites applications for a nine-month, non tenure-track faculty position to provide didactic and clinical instruction for baccalaureate nursing students. The nursing program is seeking dedicated faculty members with a strong clinical background and commitment to nursing education. These faculty positions will require the individual to live in San Angelo Texas.
Basic duties include teaching in the undergraduate baccalaureate nursing courses as assigned, to include but not limited to the preparation of course syllabi and course materials; assignment of grades and delivery of didactic and clinical instruction within classroom, hybrid, simulation, and clinical agency settings. Department and program committee participation is expected.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
The successful applicant will possess:
- Experience teaching in an accredited ( CCNE or ACEN ) nursing program.
- Knowledge and experience with academic education principles, practices, and procedures.
- Proven, strong written and verbal communication and collaborative organizational skills.
- Knowledge and experience with technology sufficient to teach assigned courses.
- Ability to collaboratively participate in the development of course and program curriculum, prepare course materials and effectively deliver didactic and clinical presentation.
- Commitment to the promotion and provision of learner - centered education.
- Dedicated to excellence in teaching, with a strong commitment to high professional standards.
- An earned master's degree with a major in nursing is required.
- An unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or compact license to practice in Texas at the time of appointment is required.
- A record of teaching, scholarship, creative activities, leadership and/or community service that qualifies for appointment at the rank of Clinical Instructor.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Certification in a specialty area of nursing (example: Certified Nurse Educator) or the desire to seek specialty certification after appointment.
