Angelo State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics position in the Department of Physics and Geosciences beginning Spring 2027. This one semester faculty appointment carries a normal teaching load, with primary responsibility for teaching introductory physics and astronomy courses.
- Teach undergraduate astronomy and physics courses in traditional, online, and/or dual-credit formats
- Maintain effective teaching practices and contribute to the mission of the Department of Physics and Geosciences
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current instructional practices, learner-centered teaching methods, assessment strategies, and student engagement techniques.
- Skill in utilizing new and novel instructional technology and alternative delivery methods
- Skill in effective oral and written communication
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
- PhD degree in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field at the time of employment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to teach undergraduate astronomy and physics courses in traditional, online, and dual-credit formats
